GGPoker has launched the Olive Branch Initiative, allowing previously banned players to apply for reinstatement under defined conditions. The programme marks a shift in policy within the online poker industry, which typically enforces permanent bans. GGPoker maintains strict rules against multi-accounting, VPN (Virtual Private Network) misuse, collusion, and unauthorised software, but has stated that individuals who demonstrate change may be reconsidered.
GGPoker’s reinstatement programme
The Olive Branch Initiative is GGPoker’s programme offering previously banned players a chance to return under strict conditions. The company stated that the initiative reflects a belief in redemption through demonstrated change. Platform ambassadors Daniel Negreanu and Fedor Holz have expressed support for the approach, which involves close monitoring rather than leniency.
Those who wish to apply under GGPoker’s Olive Branch Initiative must adhere to a set procedure. Their full name and GGPoker account nickname must be included in an email addressed to [email protected] with the subject line “Olive Branch Application.” The purpose of this procedure is to ensure that only legitimate and serious applications are taken into account.
Eligibility for programme
Candidates need to submit a selfie with both documents, proof of current address, and a valid form of identification. These requirements are in place to ensure accountability and confirm identity. The deadline for applications is 1 October 2025. The announcement of the decisions is scheduled for 1 November 2025. Late submissions will not be considered.
Players who commit minor infractions, such as using a VPN, might be considered. A second review will be given to anyone who feels their ban was unfair. However, it is unlikely that those who engage in serious cheating will be allowed to return. Every application will be evaluated individually.

GGPoker’s security policy
Under the Olive Branch Initiative, GGPoker’s Security and Ecology Policy remains intact. According to the company, the programme does not change its commitment to security and fair play. Players who have been reinstated must demonstrate that they follow the rules.
This initiative is based on the belief that individuals can change. The company stated, “Redemption is possible when genuine change occurs.” Unlike most platforms that permanently ban players, GGPoker has chosen to assess reinstatement requests individually.
The announcement stated, “The Olive Branch Programme doesn’t change GGPoker’s fundamental commitment to maintaining the highest standards of fair play and security. We’ll continue enforcing our Security and Ecology Policy with the same rigour that makes GGPoker trusted worldwide.”
Benefits from programme
This programme may influence other platforms if it successfully balances fairness with accountability. Changes in industry standards may result from the new method it presents for dealing with banned players. Candidates must disclose any prior infractions openly, offer proof of changed behaviour, and pledge to abide by the regulations. Reinstatement is not guaranteed and requires clear evidence of improvement.
Reactions from the poker community have been mixed. While some players are in favour of second chances, others are concerned about previously banned individuals returning.
