Global Lab, a certification firm based in Malta, has recently taken significant steps to boost its presence in South Africa. It was the most recent breakthrough for the company to set up new offices in various parts of the nation, signifying growth in the certifying firm’s operations on a continental level.
The increase in gambling spend is evidence of priorities shifting among households. The current 12th highest spend among households is on gambling and is after beer, as Statistics South Africa shows. Gambling is the clear leader in the recreation, sport, and culture cluster, which contributes more than half of the spending in the cluster. The cluster contributions dwarf the budgets at the household level, with an overwhelming impact on South Africa’s economy. Perpetua, an investment management firm, also pointed out that gambling contributes approximately 1% of South Africa’s GDP, generating R4.8 billion for the public purse and sustaining more than 32,000 jobs.
New South African office buildings
The firm is happy to declare the opening of its additional offices in South Africa’s East London. Maurizio Soccodato, Global Lab’s President and Founder, announced, “We are proud to open our new offices in East London, South Africa. It is the start of Global Lab’s certification operation throughout the whole South African territory.” This initiative demonstrates the firm’s determination to offer efficient certification services throughout the country, ensuring businesses and authorities reap the benefits of their services and efficient procedures.
Collaborations with key regulatory authorities
Global Lab’s achievements are complemented through its strategic partnerships with some of South Africa’s regulatory authorities. Among such bodies is SANAS (South African National Accreditation System), a major agency determining national accreditation criteria. Further, the company has also formed associations with provincial gambling and licensing authorities, including the Eastern Cape Gambling Board, the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, the KwaZulu-Natal Gaming and Betting Board, the Limpopo Gambling Board, the Gauteng Gambling Board, the North West Gambling Board, and the Free State Gambling, Liquor and Tourism Authority, and the Northern Cape Gambling Board.
Such partnerships are necessary for ensuring compliance on a local level for Global Lab’s certification work, thus allowing for simpler processes for businesses seeking to become certified in such jurisdictions.

Reaffirming the mission
With this growth, Global Lab reiterates its very essence: to revolutionise certification policies through the facilitation of processes in a more streamlined, transparent, and efficient manner. The firm emphasises values that have always been at the very core of their methods and integral to their initiatives in assisting South African industries in reaching compliance and excellence.
Global Lab in Africa
Establishment of new offices and partnerships throughout South Africa is an indication of Global Lab’s commitment to pushing the country’s economic growth and compliance initiatives. Broadening the footprint through establishing new locations seeks to enable the company not only to provide efficient but also convenient certification services to every corner in South Africa. Such an undertaking aims to instil confidence in both the domestic businesses as well as the regulators, thereby ensuring a transparent and streamlined certification environment.
Ultimately, the extension of Global Lab’s strategy to South Africa represents a significant step toward realising its international mission. Through the opening of a new office and joint initiatives with local regulators, the company is well placed to have a lasting impact on certification processes in the region and contribute to sustainable growth and industry development in South Africa.
