The competitive gaming scene in Asia is increasingly driven by grassroots esports competitions, particularly in countries such as the Philippines and India. In response to this growth, GosuGamers has launched the GosuBattles Grant Programme to support emerging event organisers. While GosuGamers is widely recognised for its coverage of international esports events, it is now expanding its role by providing financial support for regional initiatives.

GosuGamers expands support for local esports

GosuGamers, a global esports media platform known for its tournament coverage and rankings, has broadened its involvement in the industry. Its latest initiative focuses on offering resources to grassroots organisers.

To streamline tournament management, GosuGamers has introduced GosuBattles—a platform that provides tools for registration, bracket management, match reporting, and content updates. The GosuBattles Grant Programme is designed to assist a range of organisers, including student groups and local organisations, in hosting structured gaming events in India and the Philippines.

Eligibility and scope of the GosuBattles Grant

The programme is open to student gaming clubs, independent creators, community organisers, and small esports start-ups. It supports a variety of tournament formats, from local weekend events to semi-professional qualifiers, provided they are competitive and community focused.

Grants of up to $400 (approximately ₹33,000) are available, with funding amounts determined by the number of participants, total registrations, and the overall scale and quality of the tournament. The programme uses a tiered funding model, offering greater support to higher-impact events.

Application process and requirements

Applicants must submit their proposals via the official form on the GosuGamers website at least two months before the event date. Events must be hosted on the GosuBattles platform, comply with community standards, and include post-event reporting of key metrics.

In a statement outlining the strategic direction of the initiative, Bryan Huang, Director of Growth and Strategy at GosuGamers, said, “The launch of the GosuBattles Grant Programme reflects our commitment to building grassroots esports from the ground up. This initiative gives local organisers the funding, tools, and visibility to bring their tournaments to life and grow lasting communities around them.”

Potential impact on Indian and Filipino esports

India and the Philippines have active grassroots esports communities, but many local organisers face challenges related to funding and visibility. The grant programme aims to address these issues by improving tournament quality, increasing player retention, and raising the profile of local talent.

Future expansion plans

Following its initial rollout in India and the Philippines, GosuGamers is considering expanding the programme to other regions, including Indonesia, Vietnam, and Latin America. The long-term goal is to build a network of community-led tournaments, support underserved regions, and help develop emerging esports talent.

GosuGamers plans to publish case studies highlighting the progress of grant-supported tournaments. Key targets include funding over 100 tournaments, engaging more than 10,000 players, and supporting dozens of local organisers. By reducing barriers to entry for both players and organisers, the programme aims to make competitive gaming more accessible and strengthen regional esports ecosystems.
