Mondogaming earns ADM certification and redefines Italy’s betting technology

Italian technology company Mondogaming, specialised in the development of sports betting platforms, has officially obtained ADM certification for the Italian market. The compliance process was successfully completed in partnership with Itech Labs, one of the world’s leading software testing and certification entities for the gaming industry.
This achievement marks not only the company’s official entry into Italy’s regulated environment but also the culmination of a long-term vision pursued by its founder and CEO, Matteo Di Matteo, who brings more than sixteen years of experience across global iGaming markets.

A milestone that stems from a journey that began in 2006

Founded in 2006, Mondogaming has travelled a remarkable path of evolution. Di Matteo began his career in the early 2000s as a door-to-door sales agent in Italy’s retail betting scene, gaining first-hand insight into how players, operators, and systems interacted long before digital transformation reshaped the industry. In 2010, he started developing his first poker software with a small team of young developers, laying the foundations for what would later become Mondogaming’s proprietary platform. The company expanded by working with international development teams, particularly in Siberia, before making its debut at global expos like the Macao.

Over the years, Mondogaming has built partnerships across Africa, Latin America, and Europe, operating as a B2B provider with a strong focus on customisation, transparency, and technological independence. Today, after years of building a global presence, the company is returning to its roots, ready to make an impact in its home country.

The ADM milestone: a symbol of maturity and credibility

For Mondogaming, achieving ADM certification is more than a technical milestone – it represents a statement of credibility. “This project began three years ago,” says Di Matteo. “We were already working abroad, especially in Africa, where we recently secured a local license. But as Italians, we wanted to bring our technology back home.”

After an intense year and a half of work, the company’s platform was officially certified by ADM. “For us, this is not just a business achievement; it’s a personal satisfaction,” explains Di Matteo. “It elevates our company’s value and positions us as a credible provider in one of the most demanding markets in Europe.”
Italy’s regulatory system, managed by the Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli, is considered among the strictest worldwide. Obtaining certification required extensive communication and technical adaptation to meet each compliance requirement. “It was a tough process,” admits Di Matteo. “But now that we have achieved it, we can confidently say that if you can certify in Italy, you can certify anywhere.”

A new regulatory era reshaping the Italian market

The certification comes at a crucial moment for Italy’s gaming industry. The new ADM licensing framework, recently introduced, is reducing the number of active concessions from over 300 to fewer than 50. The shift aims to consolidate the market around well-structured and compliant operators.
According to Di Matteo, this transition will favour established giants such as Snai and Lottomatica but will also open doors for innovative providers capable of supporting smaller operators.

“The new tender is selective,” he explains, “but it’s also an opportunity. Operators will now need to rely on providers that can offer both reliability and innovation. That’s where we see our role, as a next-generation partner for the regulated era.”
He believes that the ADM reform will ultimately benefit the industry by raising standards. “In the past, there were many providers who didn’t fully comply with ADM requirements. Now, with fewer licenses and higher expectations, the market will become more transparent and sustainable.”

Artificial intelligence at the heart of a new platform

One of the defining aspects of Mondogaming’s technology is the integration of artificial intelligence at the core of its betting platform. The system automatically analyses player behaviour, categorises different gaming activities, and detects potential risks or irregularities in real time.
“Our AI doesn’t just automate data analysis – it safeguards both operators and players,” says Di Matteo. “It can identify when a player’s behaviour becomes potentially pathological and apply limits immediately. The system runs at 80% automation, with only 20% human supervision. Machines don’t get tired, and they don’t make mistakes in compliance checks.” This innovative use of AI aligns perfectly with ADM’s vision of a transparent, traceable, and responsible gaming ecosystem, and could set a new benchmark for compliance-driven automation in Italy’s betting sector.

Balancing innovation and compliance

For many operators, the growing emphasis on compliance often feels like an obstacle to innovation. Mondogaming takes the opposite view. “We believe compliance is an accelerator,” says Di Matteo. “We strictly follow ADM’s technical and regulatory protocols, but we continue to innovate every day.”

The company’s proprietary system features real-time reporting, automatic fraud detection, and AI-based business intelligence tools that help operators analyse performance and adapt to player behaviour. Every module is designed to make compliance effortless, transforming what was once a bureaucratic challenge into a built-in advantage. “Our goal,” Di Matteo explains, “is to prove that it’s possible to be fully compliant while staying fast, creative, and efficient. We’re building a platform that evolves with regulation, not against it.”

Expanding into regulated markets worldwide

While consolidating its position in Italy, Mondogaming continues to expand internationally. The company already operates in several European and African jurisdictions and is now pursuing certification in Portugal and Brazil, two fast-growing markets in the Portuguese-speaking world.
In addition, Mondogaming is preparing to enter Ontario, one of the most dynamic regulated gaming markets in North America. The company has also announced a collaboration with the 1xBet Group, which manages more than 20 white-label brands globally.
“These partnerships will help us bring our technology to new audiences,” Di Matteo notes. “But above all, they confirm that our platform is competitive on a global scale.”

An Italian company with an international mindset

Perhaps the most distinctive feature of Mondogaming is its total independence. All software development takes place internally, handled by a team of eight engineers, not outsourced programmers. This ensures agility, precision, and complete control over every product update.
“We build everything in-house,” emphasises Di Matteo. “That’s what allows us to respond quickly to any client request. Our development team is made up of engineers who can create anything if there’s a will to do it. That’s our strength: flexibility and passion combined.”
This philosophy reflects the best of Italian craftsmanship applied to technology – a model built on creativity, adaptability, and dedication to quality.

A vision for Italy’s new gaming identity

Mondogaming’s certification marks more than just an achievement for one company. It symbolises the broader evolution of Italy’s regulated gaming sector: from its fragmented beginnings to a modern, responsible, and technology-driven ecosystem. “ADM is pushing for platforms that are more transparent, traceable, and responsible,” says Di Matteo. “We’re fully aligned with that vision. Our goal is to build technology that supports regulation, not fights it.”

With ADM approval secured and new certifications underway abroad, Mondogaming is poised to become a reference point for the next generation of betting technology – one where compliance, innovation, and AI come together to create safer and smarter gaming environments.
“We’ve always believed in the future of legal gaming in Italy,” Di Matteo concludes. “Today, we’re proud to be part of that future, with the same passion that started this journey and the ambition to lead it forward.”
