Nevada gaming revenue rises 5.5% in August to $1.23B
Nevada casinos recorded $1.23 billion in gaming revenue for August 2025, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB). The figure marked a 5.5 percent increase compared with the same month last year. Strong baccarat performance and a surge in mobile sports betting drove the gains, while slot machines showed mixed results.
Table games lead growth
Table games and card games generated $411.8 million in revenue, rising 12.6 percent year on year. Baccarat was the standout contributor, producing $116.5 million, an increase of 52.6 percent. The game’s momentum was fuelled by high-roller activity on the Las Vegas Strip. Baccarat revenue on the Strip nearly doubled to $115.6 million, offsetting a fall in other areas of the casino floor.
Sports betting surge
Sports wagering revenue rose 68.1 percent to $42 million. Mobile betting nearly doubled, reaching $29.4 million. Football betting provided a seasonal lift with the start of the college and NFL pre-season, accounting for $16.3 million, up 85.9 percent compared with last year.
Strip and Clark County performance
Clark County, which includes the Las Vegas Strip, remained the largest contributor to statewide results with $1.03 billion in revenue, up 5.3 percent. The Strip generated $652.1 million, an increase of 2 percent. Strong baccarat play supported the Strip’s results, while slot machine performance was mixed.
Revenue from multi-denomination slot machines grew 14.2 percent to $508.5 million, but penny slot revenue dropped 31.2 percent to $93.1 million. Downtown Las Vegas casinos posted $63.2 million, an increase of 8.3 percent. North Las Vegas rose 7.8 percent to $24.7 million. Laughlin declined 7.1 percent to $41 million, while the Boulder Strip edged down 1.1 percent to $84.8 million.
Regional trends outside Clark County
Washoe County reported $102.8 million in revenue, up 7.4 percent. Reno generated $76.1 million, an increase of 9.9 percent. Sparks added $15.7 million, growing 3.2 percent, while North Lake Tahoe fell 15 percent to $3.1 million.
South Lake Tahoe saw a rebound, rising 21.5 percent to $37.7 million. Carson Valley grew 8.9 percent to $12.4 million. Mesquite reported $15.1 million, up 9.9 percent. Elko County was the only region outside Clark County to decline, slipping 0.8 percent to $32.4 million.
Recent performance context
The August results highlight contrasting trends across the state. Baccarat and digital betting lifted overall revenue, while slot machine categories remained uneven.
In July 2025, statewide revenue grew 4 percent to $1.21 billion. The Las Vegas Strip produced $749.1 million, up 5.6 percent, while Reno rose nearly 10 percent and South Lake Tahoe also climbed 21.5 percent. Local casinos declined 1.5 percent.
Earlier in 2025, June revenue reached $1.36 billion, supported by strong baccarat play on the Strip. In May, Nevada posted its first $1.4 billion month of the year, although growth patterns have differed between regional and destination markets.
