Telegram shuts down TG.Casino over policy violations: report
Instant messaging giant Telegram has likely banned TG.Casino from its platform, signalling a crackdown on online gambling services operating through the messaging app, as per a report.
TG.Casino, which had over 36,000 subscribers and describes itself as “the world’s fastest growing casino” on X, formerly known as Twitter, is reportedly no longer accessible on Telegram. The casino operator has served as a regional partner of AC Milan in Europe since last year.
After users attempted to open TG.Casino’s Telegram channel, they got a message which read, “Unfortunately, this bot can’t be displayed on Telegram apps downloaded from the Google Play Store.”
This aligns with Google Play’s policies, which restrict certain types of content on apps downloaded from its store. Telegram’s Google Play version includes filters that block access to content Google deems inappropriate.
Further investigation, however, indicates that the ban extends beyond the Google Play version of Telegram. When attempting to access TG.Casino through the main version of the app, users are met with another message, “This bot can’t be displayed because it violated Telegram’s Terms of Service.”
From this, it looks like Telegram has taken action to enforce its policies and maintain its reputation as a secure messaging service.
Telegram casinos have gained popularity for their anonymity and convenience, operating through bots that allow users to play games without revealing their identities. As per critics, Telegram has allowed unmonitored gambling to grow, leading the platform to take action. Since users keep joining and leaving, it is hard to track how many people use these casinos.
