The UAE Lottery has opened its first physical retail outlet in Musaffah’s M40 area in Abu Dhabi, allowing customers aged 18 and above to purchase tickets on site for the first time as it expands beyond its online-only model and moves towards a hybrid system combining digital and in-person participation.

The outlet enables players to purchase tickets for Lucky Day Draw and Pick 3 with payment completed on site, while staff assist customers with queries and game selection and a range of payment options is available.

The launch marks the first introduction of over-the-counter ticket sales through a dedicated retail outlet, expanding the UAE Lottery beyond its initial online-only model.

Shift towards hybrid access

The move reflects a change in how the UAE Lottery is distributed. Since its launch, it has primarily operated through digital channels, with the addition of a physical outlet introducing both online and in-person access.

The operator stated that the expansion is intended to broaden access to its games and reach a wider audience across the country. According to the company, participation levels have grown since launch, and the addition of a retail presence is expected to further increase engagement.

The hybrid model reflects a broader industry approach in which operators use both digital platforms and retail outlets, allowing access for players who prefer in-person interaction or cash-based transactions.

Expansion follows earlier retail rollout

The Musaffah outlet follows earlier steps taken in 2025 to introduce in-person sales. In August 2025, the UAE Lottery launched its Retail Express service at three ADNOC petrol stations in Dubai, located in Jebel Ali, Al Quoz and Business Bay.

The launch marked the introduction of offline ticket sales, expanding beyond the lottery’s original online-only platform, which had been in place since its launch in November 2024, as part of efforts to increase access and reach a wider group of players.

At the time, the operator set out plans to expand retail availability, including potential partnerships with supermarkets and fuel stations. The launch of the Abu Dhabi outlet is part of this plan.

Changes to draw format and prize structure

This retail rollout comes after recent changes to the lottery’s core product offering. Last week, the UAE Lottery confirmed that Lucky Day draws would take place twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The update replaced the previous once a week schedule and increases the number of opportunities for players to participate. Each draw continues to offer a top prize of Dh30 million (approximately US$8.2 million) and a second prize of Dh5 million ($1.36 million), with ticket prices remaining at Dh50 ($13.6).

Ticket sales close at 8 pm ahead of each draw, which is broadcast live at 9.30 pm. Each ticket includes a Lucky Chance ID, which is entered into a separate draw where several guaranteed cash prizes are awarded.

The move to twice-weekly draws follows changes made in December 2025, when the lottery moved from a fortnightly to a weekly schedule and updated its prize structure. At that time, the Dh100 million (approximately $27.2 million) jackpot was discontinued and replaced with a Dh30 million (approximately $8.2 million) top prize and a Dh5 million (approximately $1.36 million) second prize, increasing the frequency of prize payouts.

Participation and performance

Since its launch, the UAE Lottery has reported higher participation. Players have won more than Dh175 million (approximately US$47.6 million) in prizes so far.

Earlier records showed that nearly 200 winners had claimed prizes since the first draw in December 2024, including those who received guaranteed payouts.

Regulatory oversight and responsible gaming

All UAE Lottery products operate under the oversight of the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), which is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and maintaining a secure and transparent environment.

Residents aged 18 and above can participate. The operator has said that player protection tools and resources are in place. The lottery is subject to regulatory oversight and has introduced product changes and wider distribution.
