Alea partnered with the SiGMA Foundation to support two major initiatives across East Africa in early 2026. The collaboration backed the Mount Kilimanjaro expedition, which began on 25 January, and funded the renovation of Kaliro Kindergarten School in Uganda, reinforcing a shared commitment to education infrastructure and community development in the region.

Why climb for a cause?

Twenty people took part in a seven-day climb up Mount Kilimanjaro, reaching Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres. The climb challenged their endurance and helped raise money for education projects in Uganda. Alea has worked with the SiGMA Foundation before, supporting charity auctions and education projects in different regions over the years.

The Kilimanjaro Challenge has been a key part of the SiGMA Foundation’s work since it began, and the 2026 climb was the fourteenth successful expedition. Keith Marshall, Chief Philanthropy Officer at the Foundation, called the challenge a strong example of how working together can bring real help to communities in need. Alea’s support helped keep this tradition going, connecting the hard work of the climbers with real benefits for others.

From ruin to renewal

At the same time as the expedition, Alea paid for the complete renovation of Kaliro Kindergarten School in Nawaikoke, Uganda. Severe storms had destroyed the old building, leaving the community without a safe place for early education. The finished project provided four new classrooms, better sanitation, and a safe outdoor play area, giving local children a more secure and supportive place to learn.

The initiative reflected a broader commitment to sustainable development. Since its founding, the SiGMA Foundation has invested more than €2 million in charitable initiatives, positively impacting thousands of lives across Africa, South America, and Southeast Asia. The Kaliro renovation now stands alongside projects such as classroom developments in Ethiopia and community centres in Brazil, each designed in close collaboration with local stakeholders to ensure cultural relevance and long-term sustainability.

A collective effort for change

Alea’s dual support illustrated how the iGaming sector can extend its impact beyond commercial operations. The company, recognised as an award-winning game aggregator with more than 17,000 titles from over 170 providers, has increasingly channelled its industry expertise into philanthropic initiatives.

Both the Kilimanjaro expedition and the Kaliro school renovation brought industry professionals together around a shared purpose, demonstrating how collaboration within the sector can help deliver meaningful, long-term change for communities in need.
