Botswana Gambling Authority appoints Moruntshi Kemorwale as acting CEO

The Botswana Gambling Authority has officially approved the appointment of Moruntshi Kemorwale as acting Chief Executive Officer. This appointment has been processed through the proper channels of the Authority and has received approval from the Ministry of Trade and Investment.

The background and experience of Moruntshi Kemorwale

Kemorwale’s nomination is an achievement for the Gambling Authority of Botswana, considering the wealth of experience he has within the institution. Prior to his current appointment, Keorwale was the Authority’s Director of Responsible Gambling and Corporate Affairs. As such, he handled projects aimed at encouraging responsibility in gambling and upholding regulations relevant thereto. Additionally, due to his previous work as Chief of Staff, he has a clear understanding of both the Authority’s operations and its work plan agendas.

Apart from his position with the Gambling Authority, Kemorwale has extensive experience in various sectors, including mining, media, and advertising. He has held senior roles in several organisations, including serving as the Chief of Communications at Morupule Coal Mine and as Director of Communications at Litmus Media Botswana. This varied experience equips him with a wide range of skills, forming a valuable resource in guiding the company through a period of industrial change and development.

Context of Kemorwale’s appointment

Kemorwale’s appointment has come at a time of development in Botswana’s gaming sector. The sector is currently undergoing reforms in response to dynamic regulatory imperatives and advances in information and communication technologies.
