Ed Roberts, founder and editor-in-chief of GamblingInformation.com, has spent much of his career in the iGaming sector. He began in customer support at a leading sportsbook, an experience that taught him the value of clear communication and transparency. A later role as lead CRM analyst in Malta deepened his knowledge of the gambling industry and gave him the confidence to launch his own venture. Today, he heads one of the market’s most respected affiliate platforms. He sat down with SiGMA News to discuss his journey and the success of his platform.

Q: GamblingInformation.com is gaining recognition in the Canadian market. What makes your platform particularly valuable for Canadian players?

What we offer is expert reviews focused on Canadian gambling websites. Our reviewers are all industry veterans who have a lot to say about the direction that the market is going. GamblingInformation.com’s primary concern is the user experience. That is why we have managed to build a very loyal fan base, that always knows they can return to us for more legitimate information.

Q: Ontario has led the way in regulating online gambling in Canada. How has GamblingInformation.com adapted to this new framework?

We are shining a light on those offshore websites that are not available in Ontario. We also like to point to the sites that might be available to Canadian players outside the province. Furthermore, we even have an entire section dedicated to casinos available in Ontario specifically, separate from those in other Canadian provinces. We are also looking to expand globally. We think we could make some pretty big strides in the global iGaming market.

Q: Your title suggests global ambitions. How are you expanding your reach beyond Canada, and which markets are you focusing on next?

Canada is our focus for now. The team working for GamblingInformation.com is currently comprised of experts on the Canadian iGaming market. We believe we can elevate Canada’s gambling sector to new heights. It is also true that we at GamblingInformation.com are experts on Stake Casino, PlayOJO and CasinoDays, all of which operate outside of the country as well. So, we certainly have global ambitions. The editors cover casinos licensed by Curacao, the United Kingdom Gambling Commission, and the Malta Gaming Association. We are looking to expand to North American jurisdictions, and might even go for other parts of Europe.

Q: Many Canadian players struggle to differentiate between licensed and unlicensed platforms. How does your site help them make informed decisions?

Well, one way we do this is by having clear and concise license disclosure right at the top. Most players want to know if the site they are going to use is worth it before they read a thorough and detailed review. That is why we disclose all important information before reviewing the platform in question.

Q: How does GamblingInformation.com ensure compliance with regional gambling regulations in a rapidly evolving legal landscape?

We keep continuously updating listings of all the casinos that we’ve reviewed. Furthermore, we’ve stepped into partnerships with some pretty noteworthy responsible gambling orgs., in order to ensure our customers always have a shoulder to lean on.

Q: What role does user feedback play in shaping the content and direction of the platform?

I would say it plays a pretty big role. Our experts do take player feedback into consideration when they are typing out their reviews. You do have to be careful there to root out the bias. But, the GamblingInformation.com team is definitely up to the task. Of course, even the bias feedback is useful in some cases, as it can lead to one of our editors finding a problem with the casino that they are reviewing, or perhaps even explaining any issues to a growing number of customers.

Q: With the rise of AI and automation in iGaming, how is your platform using technology to enhance user experience and data accuracy?

We don’t rely too much on artificial intelligence. Our experts cross-reference their own reviews with those of other reputable websites or external sources. We also do manual testing to ensure that what we write is accurate. Artificial intelligence, as it stands right now, is not exactly reliable. However, there may come a time in the future when we have no choice but to hop on the bandwagon.

Q: Trust and transparency are big concerns for players. What features or practices have helped you build credibility in the space?

It is all about transparency. We explain our review process in detail, and disclose any affiliates or partnerships that we may be involved in. We don’t want the customers to get the wrong idea, though. Our first priority is always to give them an honest review of the product that we are talking about. Our editors don’t sugarcoat any of the facts and bring attention to the flaws that the casino may have. After all, that is how you reach a better iGaming market.

Q: Does GamblingInformation.com provide support or educational resources for problem gambling or responsible play?

Yes. In fact, we have a whole section dedicated to responsible gambling on our front page. We talk about different aspects of responsible gambling, including self-exclusion methods and time-outs. Lastly, we have ensured that our customers can access different hotlines that are experts at helping those struggling with compulsive gambling.

Q: Looking ahead, how do you see the online gambling space evolving in Canada and globally, and what role will GamblingInformation.com play in that future?

Well, I can definitely see countries moving towards legalising the iGaming market. It is one of the most profitable entertainment sectors right now. As a company, we hope to be greatly involved in that future, and expose new people to the safest and most trustworthy casinos in the field.
