Hong Kong-listed gaming and entertainment company, Century Entertainment is continuing work on its Phase IV online entertainment platform while strengthening its anti-money laundering and compliance systems as part of its wider digital business strategy.

In its latest quarterly update, the company said the online platform remains its core digital business segment despite its shares remaining suspended from trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 26 June 2025.

Century Entertainment said development work is ongoing, including platform construction, system optimisation and function testing. The company is also expanding its compliance framework as it prepares for stricter international regulatory requirements linked to digital entertainment and cross-border operations.

Online gaming expansion continues

The latest update builds on Century Entertainment’s previously announced partnership with Philippines-based partner World Platinum Technologies Inc (WPT).

Earlier this year, the company revealed plans to develop up to 10 mobile gaming applications through a joint venture with WPT. Under the agreement, WPT is responsible for providing online gaming platform infrastructure, gaming content, technical support and compliance-related systems.

These systems include Know Your Customer (KYC), verification procedures and anti-money laundering (AML), monitoring tools. The partnership forms part of Century Entertainment’s broader effort to strengthen its position in the online gaming and digital entertainment sector.

The company said a dedicated online project team has already been formed to oversee platform development, operational management and compliance implementation. The team includes technical, operational and compliance personnel.

AML and KYC systems strengthened

Century Entertainment said it has upgraded its AML and KYC systems in response to increasing global regulatory scrutiny and rising cross-border compliance requirements.

The corporation claims that new risk classification algorithms, improved fund flow monitoring systems, and more robust user identification verification procedures are all part of the upgraded architecture. In an effort to spot suspect financial behaviour faster, the corporation has also included irregular transaction alert features.

Additional improvements have been made to system security, data protection measures and internal controls.

Century Entertainment said these changes are intended to improve risk management capabilities, protect shareholder interests and support future international expansion plans.

The company added that compliance optimisation would help strengthen overall operational resilience as it develops its digital entertainment business.

Overseas expansion targets

Alongside its online gaming strategy, Century Entertainment is also preparing to expand overseas, particularly in Vietnam and South Korea.
The company said the move follows the appointment of its new chairman, who reportedly has industry resources and regional networks in both markets.

Century Entertainment stated that it plans to explore local offline entertainment cooperation opportunities in the two countries while operating under legal and compliant principles.

The corporation has created a specialised abroad business team to support the endeavour. The team will concentrate on resource coordination related to the proposed expansion, compliance evaluations, and market research.

The company said its future strategy will follow a dual-track model focused on digital entertainment development and overseas business growth.

Trading remains suspended

Trading in Century Entertainment shares on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange has remained suspended since 26 June 2025.

An update on when trading might resume was not given by the company. However, it stated that as it continues to develop its online entertainment company and look at prospects for regional expansion, compliance, risk management, and operational development continue to be top concerns.
