The crypto gambling sector is experiencing extraordinary momentum in 2025, fuelled by the deeper integration of blockchain technologies, the growing use of cryptocurrencies as a payment method, and the rapid evolution of play-to-earn models. In this environment, analysts and industry stakeholders describe a new era for decentralised gaming, a market that continues to break records in value and user participation.

A market in relentless acceleration

Recent studies estimate the value of the blockchain gaming market at around USD 13.97 billion in 2025, a result that signals not a point of arrival but the beginning of a trajectory expected to exceed USD 259 billion by 2032. Forecasts based on a compound annual growth rate of over 50% outline a sector expanding at high speed, driven by innovative business models and a steadily increasing user base.

Alongside the gaming sector’s performance, crypto gambling is also reshaping industry benchmarks. In the first quarter of 2025, digital currency wagers reached USD 26 billion, nearly double the figure recorded in the same period of 2024. The surge is reinforced by NFT-based models and play-to-earn platforms, both of which are helping propel total crypto gaming revenues towards USD 21.6 billion this year.

Why is crypto gaming growing so rapidly?

The sector’s remarkable expansion stems from a combination of factors. The rise of stablecoins as a reliable payment method is one of the key drivers: their price stability enables players to transact without the volatility typically associated with cryptocurrencies. At the same time, the spread of multi-chain technologies allows seamless movement across different blockchains, supporting the distribution of games and digital assets.

Regulatory developments are also playing a central role. Countries such as South Korea have introduced clearer frameworks, attracting investment and increasing trust in blockchain-based platforms. Leading networks – including Ethereum, BNB Chain and Flow – continue to dominate game development thanks to their decentralised marketplaces, essential for the trading and management of NFTs.

Adding competitive strength to the sector, layer-2 scalability solutions have significantly reduced transaction costs. These technologies allow players to enjoy frictionless experiences, removing barriers that only a few years ago hindered the adoption of decentralised gaming.

The changing global gaming community

The year 2025 marks a significant shift in the composition of the global gaming audience. Worldwide, the gaming population has reached 3.48 billion, while active blockchain gamers now exceed 102 million, representing a 72% increase compared with 2024. The dominant age group, between 18 and 44, shows a clear preference for transparent, secure and immediate solutions – features naturally guaranteed by blockchain ecosystems.

Mobile platforms are the main force behind this growth. More than 70% of blockchain games developed in 2025 are designed for mobile devices, confirming the sector’s focus on flexible, on-the-go entertainment. This strategy dramatically widens the potential user base and accelerates monthly transaction volumes on leading platforms.

Technological innovation driving the sector forward

Emerging technologies are profoundly reshaping the crypto gaming landscape. Artificial intelligence is now integrated into many of the most advanced titles: AI systems create dynamic, adaptive and realistic environments that personalise the player experience in real time. At the same time, solutions such as multi-signature wallets and zero-knowledge proofs are setting higher security standards, a key factor for both users and operators.

zkEVM chains are also gaining ground, offering remedies to long-standing issues on Ethereum, such as high gas fees and slow confirmation times. Their growing adoption provides a strong foundation for developing scalable, fast and cost-effective blockchain games.

Regional leadership in the global market

From a geographical perspective, the Asia-Pacific region clearly dominates the sector. With nearly half of the global market share, it benefits from the rapid uptake of decentralised technologies in countries such as China, Japan and South Korea. Close behind is North America, where advanced digital infrastructures and a crypto-savvy audience support an ecosystem that continues to strengthen year after year.

Future prospects for crypto gaming

Looking ahead, the crypto gaming industry appears set to maintain its upward momentum. The convergence of entertainment, decentralised finance and digital ownership is creating a new economic framework in which players become active participants within the ecosystem. Analysts expect this transformation to evolve well beyond 2030, reshaping traditional gaming models and paving the way for a future where blockchain and digital assets form the core of interactive experiences.
