DigiPlus Interactive Corp., a Philippine-based digital entertainment company, has clarified that no definitive transaction has been agreed following a media report linking the company to a potential acquisition of Diamond Hotel in Manila.

In a disclosure filed with the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), the company responded to a report published on Monday by local media, InsiderPH, which cited unnamed sources claiming DigiPlus was in talks to acquire the Manila Bay property owned by Filipino tycoon Ramon Ang.

“We confirm that DigiPlus is exploring opportunities to expand into adjacent and complementary segments, aligned with its long-term strategy to develop a robust gaming and digital entertainment ecosystem,” the company said in the filing.

However, the company stressed that discussions remain preliminary. “These plans remain under evaluation, and no definitive transactions have been made,” DigiPlus added.

The clarification comes after InsiderPH reported that the company, chaired by Eusebio Tanco, had offered a multibillion-peso investment to acquire the five-star hotel and redevelop part of the site into a large-scale gaming complex.

Acquisition linked to broader integrated resort strategy

According to the local media report, DigiPlus has been in talks to acquire billionaire Ang’s Diamond Hotel Philippines in line with plans to transform part of the historic Manila Bay site into a $1 billion gaming complex. The report added that “the company has offered a multibillion-peso investment for the property,” citing insiders familiar with the negotiations.

The hotel, a 480-room seafront property along Roxas Boulevard, was originally built by Shimizu Corp. in the early 1990s and later acquired by Ang as part of his private portfolio. The report noted that discussions have focused on valuation, with one source saying Ang had previously declined several offers for the property.

DigiPlus, which operates platforms such as BingoPlus and ArenaPlus, was also reported to be arranging financing for the potential acquisition. The company is currently working to complete its planned acquisition of New Coast Hotel Manila, formerly the Hyatt Regency Hotel & Casino, located directly opposite the Diamond Hotel.

That property houses the La Vie Casino and is operated by International Entertainment Corp. (IEC), which DigiPlus intends to acquire for approximately PHP12 billion ($194.6 million). The Hong Kong-listed firm also holds a provisional licence from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) to develop and operate an integrated resort in Manila until 2033.

Strong financial performance, international expansion

The digital entertainment company has reported strong financial performance in its recent disclosures. According to DigiPlus, full-year 2025 net income reached PHP12.6 billion ($204.3 million). Meanwhile, its revenues rose 12 per cent to PHP84.2 billion ($1.4 billion).

The broader Philippine gaming sector continues to attract investment across both digital and land-based segments. Industry players are pursuing IR developments, reflecting confidence in long-term demand despite short-term market fluctuations.

Separately, DigiPlus is also advancing its international expansion after securing licences from the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB) in South Africa. The move marks the company’s second overseas push after Brazil and supports its strategy to target emerging jurisdictions.
