It has been a busy week in global iGaming, with several moves being made to advance the industry, from the launch of bespoke widgets ahead of the upcoming World Cup and partnerships entering exciting regional markets, to a confirmation of the dates for European Safe Gambling Week 2026. Here are some of the iGaming market developments that have occurred throughout the past week.

Sporting Tech launches World Cup 2026 widget

Sporting Tech has launched a dedicated suite of sports betting widgets ahead of the 2026 World Cup. The company said that the bespoke widgets are designed to help operators in delivering a tournament-defining experience for players, with the aim of turning tournament traffic into sustained engagement.

The suite includes the events, groups, and long-term bets widgets. The events widget offers one-tap access to match markets, the groups widget provides quick navigation to group fixtures, teams, and relevant markets, and the long-term bets widget gives direct routes to outrights and tournament specials.

Sporting Tech commented that this launch comes at a pivotal moment for the global sports betting industry, as it remarked that the 2022 World Cup generated an estimated $35 billion in wagers globally.

With the 2026 World Cup expanding to 104 matches, a 62% increase when compared to the 2022 tournament, and with the continued opening of regulated betting markets, Sporting Tech believes that the commercial opportunity for operators has never been greater.
