LONATO modernises Togo’s lottery under digital strategy
The Togolese Republic lottery program is being pushed forward with a five-year modernisation plan by the Loterie Nationale du Togo (LONATO). The program is backing Togo Digital 2025–2030, the national strategy to turn the country into a regional high-tech hub of the West African region.
This project aims to enhance accessibility, efficiency and the overall player experience. LONATO’s modernisation plan integrates advanced technology into the country’s lottery network and improves service delivery for both retailers and players.
Upgrading infrastructure across the country
As part of the plan, LONATO is upgrading approximately 900 terminals to TS10 units. These new devices include integrated 24-hour batteries and support multiple connectivity options, including 2G, 3G, 4G and GPRS networks with dual SIM capability.
Over the next five years, LONATO will deploy up to 5,000 terminals across Togo, significantly expanding nationwide access to lottery games. This large-scale rollout will improve reliability, enhance rural accessibility, and ensure smoother operations for both vendors and players.
Quicker results and more transparency
One of the pivotal improvements is the faster publication of daily draw results. The upgraded infrastructure now enables Loterie Nationale du Togo (LONATO) to announce results within five minutes after ticket sales close. This development has reduced waiting times and supported transparency in lottery operations.
LONATO said, according to Togo First News: “The new terminals will not only speed up results but also make playing the lottery easier and more accessible to every corner of Togo.” The emphasis on quick and transparent results reflects LONATO’s goal to grow public trust and maintain integrity in its operations.
Innovative products for players
LONATO has continued to diversify its offerings with new and engaging lottery products. Among these diversified innovations are Loto Matinal, a daily draw launched in 2024, and Loto Turbo, which features two draws per day.
These games give players additional opportunities to win with still-reasonably-priced tickets. The use of multiple daily draws is a move aiming to increase interaction and regular participation among players.
Boosting revenue and driving digital inclusion
The modernisation plan complements the government’s broader economic development and digital inclusion programme. Minister of Digital Economy, Kodjo Adedze, said, according to TechAfrica: “Through these initiatives, we aim to strengthen national revenue while providing a modern, transparent lottery experience.”
By integrating digital technology, LONATO aims to make gaming more efficient while contributing to national revenue mobilisation. The upgrade of the systems will increase participation and promote fiscal accountability throughout the lottery industry.
