Philippine platform backs responsible iGaming content
A Philippine esports veteran has launched a new livestreaming platform aimed at promoting responsible iGaming at a time when authorities and regulators, including the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), are intensifying efforts to address unlicensed online gambling promotions on social media.
Julius “Banoobs” Mariano introduced YGS Live, or Your Game Simulator Live, a platform designed to offer a compliant, community-focused space for Filipino iGaming streamers. The launch comes amid rising public concern over influencers who have promoted platforms operating without PAGCOR authorisation, prompting government agencies to endorse cases for investigation and strengthen monitoring of online gambling content.
Mariano, a long-time figure in esports development, from early work with tournament organisers to leadership posts at major gaming and streaming companies, framed the platform as a response to the growing need for safer and more accountable online gaming communities. “YGS Live is built for creators who want to grow, collaborate, and elevate the iGaming space responsibly,” he said in the announcement. He added that the platform intends to help creators build careers without exposing their audiences to risks tied to unregulated gambling.
“Influence comes with responsibility,” he said. “We want YGS Live to be a platform that doesn’t just entertain but also educates, helping shape a healthier iGaming culture for players and viewers alike.”
Battle of the Streamers to anchor platform launch
The debut of YGS Live also marks the introduction of Battle of the Streamers, an international iGaming competition. The event will run every Saturday beginning 15 November, culminating in a finals event scheduled for January at City of Dreams Manila.
All participants will compete while partnering exclusively with licensed iGaming platforms. Organisers said the requirement reinforces the platform’s stance against creators who have collaborated with unregulated gambling operators.
Push for ethics in iGaming content creation
The launch is positioned against a backdrop of heightened scrutiny of online gambling promotions across social media in the Philippines. On Thursday, the Philippines’ Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Centre (CICC), together with advocacy group Digital Pinoys, flagged local influencers who used livestreams and digital challenges to funnel audiences toward unlicensed gambling websites. The CICC said that several investigations have been endorsed to law enforcement, with authorities looking into potential violations of cybercrime and gambling laws.
“We would now be asking for the takedown of their sites, and we will be endorsing them to the PNP-ACG for the appropriate filing of cases,” Renato Paraiso, CICC Chief and Undersecretary, said.
Advocacy groups monitoring illegal gambling content have also called attention to the scale of influence held by creators in the sector. According to the CICC, many of the personalities now under review collectively reach tens of millions of followers, amplifying concerns that unregulated promotions may expose viewers, including minors, to risks such as fraud, predatory schemes, and manipulation.
A new direction for the local iGaming community
YGS Live said it intends to function not only as a streaming venue but also as an environment for collaboration between creators, brands, and audiences. Organisers said the platform is structured to provide a transparent and brand-safe setting, where both emerging and established creators can develop content aligned with responsible gaming principles.
