The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) in Uganda has formally reiterated its support for the 2026 edition of SiGMA Africa, ahead of this year’s summit from 3–6 March 2026.
In official correspondence addressed to Lucy Vivi Mwendwa, Head of International and Government Relations for SiGMA Africa, the Ugandan regulator confirmed its continued endorsement of the event and its wider objectives across the African continent.
A strong build-up to the 2026 summit
The 2026 edition, hosted in Cape Town, moves into its 4th edition with positive momentum across regulatory, operational and investment circles. According to the NLGRB, the summit is expected to play a meaningful role in advancing dialogue between public institutions and private stakeholders, while spotlighting Africa’s evolving gaming and technology landscape.
The regulator acknowledged that SiGMA Africa has established itself as a credible convening platform, attracting decision-makers, innovators and investors. The event is recognised for facilitating structured discussions around governance, compliance and market expansion, all of which are central to the region’s long-term trajectory.
Regulatory alignment and sector integrity
The NLGRB’s statement highlighted its statutory goal of encouraging transparency, supervisory ability and responsible gaming throughout Africa’s gaming environment. Additionally, the Board reiterated its collaboration with international platforms like SiGMA Africa in relation to this objective by facilitating the sharing of information and benchmarks to determine how well the African region compares to others worldwide.
According to the regulator, there is a critical need for strengthened regulatory structures and frameworks that will support consumer protection, while at the same time allowing for competition within the gaming industry. Therefore, the NLGRB believes that conferences and summits of this type provide delegate participants with important insights about new technology, compliance tools and best practice models that can be incorporated into their local jurisdiction.
The NLGRB Board’s goal of assisting jurisdictions in aligning their regulatory goals with the gaming industry’s innovation will help to create tangible social and economic benefits through the growth of the gaming industry. The NLGRB Board intends for this to be a part of their commitment to supporting sustainable development and regulated growth within the marketplace.
