Leading casino directory Casino Guru is expanding its partnership with charity BetBlocker to localise its self-exclusion tool for Finland. This collaboration enables the organisation to offer support services in Finnish.
Casino Guru’s primary focus is to promote safer and more responsible gambling among both players and industry professionals. The team has successfully implemented initiatives such as the Safety Index, the Global Self-Exclusion Initiative, and the Casino Guru Academy, while also recognising achievements through the Casino Guru Awards.
Self-exclusion tools for players in Finland
The collaboration between Casino Guru and BetBlocker aims to provide players with support for responsible gaming in their native language. According to a report by the Finnish government, in 2023, around 4% of the country’s population was at moderate risk of harm related to gambling. Thus, supporting the Finnish localisation of the self-exclusion tool could benefit hundreds of thousands of people.
Сompanies launch localisation initiatives worldwide. They are already yielding results in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, the US, and Latin American countries, including Brazil and Argentina. In developing regions such as India and the Philippines, such projects are particularly relevant given the growth of mobile gambling.
Casino Guru also utilises automatic translation on its international players forum. BetBlocker complements this initiative by providing free software to block access to gambling sites.
Prioritising gambling safety
Both companies anticipate that the collaboration will have a significant impact on responsible gambling in Finland. BetBlocker founder Duncan Garvey is enthusiastic about the company’s achievements: ‘Casino Guru’s global self-exclusion initiative has fostered dialogue and provided a practical example of how safe gambling market ideas can be integrated into the affiliate business model.’ He commented on the agreement in a post on LinkedIn:
According to Simon Winz, Head of Sustainable and Safe Gambling at Casino Guru, the partnership aims to promote cross-jurisdictional self-exclusion efforts. ‘We are still a long way from having a proper global system in place, but BetBlocker is doing an excellent job of providing a free and anonymous blocking solution regardless of the player’s location,’ Winz said.
For its contribution to safer gambling, Casino Guru was nominated for the VIXIO Global Regulatory Awards 2025. The new collaboration aligns with the company’s efforts to promote responsible gaming for all.
Dispute resolution centre has returned $50 million to players
Casino Guru’s dispute resolution centre, an independent mediator in disputes between casinos and players, was established in 2019. Over the past six years, the team has officially returned $50 million to players.
According to Petromela Kontos, head of the Complaints Resolution Centre, over the past six years, the company has created a dispute resolution centre that is now trusted by both the industry and players. She emphasised: ‘The mission is to ensure transparency and fairness in casino operations and to provide players with access to impartial support — free of charge and regardless of where in the world the player is located.’
Over 1,000 disputes per month
Since its inception, the Complaints Resolution Centre has grown to 28 members, up from two in 2019. Its steady growth and scalability have enabled it to receive and process over 1,000 complaints per month over the past two years.
In 2025 alone, the centre returned an average of $1.5 million per month to players. In more than six years of operation, the team has resolved over 16,800 cases and settled some of the most significant disputes in the gambling sector.
The most notable case is when Branislav Braith, a complaints specialist at Casino Guru, secured a $1.35 million refund for a player. This precedent became the second largest in the history of public resolutions of such disputes. The team described it in detail in a report published in November 2024.
The team has set itself an ambitious goal for the future: to resolve all incoming requests.
