Vietnam’s Corona Resort & Casino has opened a new high-end gaming area aimed at premium mass-market players, as operators across the region continue to shift away from traditional VIP junket models in the direction of more stable, higher-quality demand.
The new zone, branded Corona Premium Mass, forms part of the integrated resort’s existing casino in Phu Quoc, an island off Vietnam’s south-west coast in Kien Giang province. The resort first opened in 2019 and remains one of the country’s most prominent casino developments.
Unlike conventional mass-market gaming floors, the Premium Mass area is built to serve players who wager majorly more than average customers but operate outside the credit-based VIP junket system. The operator said the zone offers private tables, special privacy and priority access, reducing waiting times and creating a quieter gaming environment.
New tables for roulette, blackjack
Higher betting limits are a big part of the appeal. Tiger Baccarat leads the offering, with bets starting at VND10 million ($410) and going up to VND1 billion ($40,800) per hand. Dragon–Tiger Baccarat follows the same structure, alongside a no-commission baccarat option aimed at more experienced players.
Other new table games include roulette, with bets ranging from VND1 million to VND20 million ($40 to $820), blackjack with limits from VND2 million to VND40 million ($80 to $1,630), and Russian Poker, offering stakes between VND5 million and VND100 million ($200 to $4,080). The wider casino spans around 18,800 square metres and is equipped with a modern table management and monitoring system. All gaming equipment is described as internationally certified, with operational support provided by Upffinity Gaming Management.
Industry observers note that premium mass players have grown increasingly important for Asian casinos. The segment sits between regular mass-market gamblers and ultra-high-end VIPs, typically betting with their own funds rather than relying on junket-arranged credit. Operators favour the segment for its lower regulatory risk, more predictable revenue and stronger non-gaming spend on hotels, dining and entertainment.
The launch also comes as air connectivity to Phu Quoc improves. Sun PhuQuoc Airways is scheduled to introduce a direct route to Taipei on 29 March 2025, while non-stop flights between Macau and Phu Quoc are set to begin on 3 March 2025, strengthening links with key gaming and tourism markets.
Looking out for Chinese tourists
Vietnam has also extended its pilot programme allowing local residents to gamble at selected casinos. The scheme, now expanded to additional venues, has been extended for another five years, with Corona Resort & Casino remaining part of the initiative alongside The Grand Ho Tram and the Van Don integrated resort.
The timing of the Premium Mass launch is widely seen as strategic. With the Chinese New Year 2026 falling on 17 February, the travel period typically brings a rise in outbound tourism from mainland China. Vietnam has emerged as a major destination, welcoming more than 5.2 million Chinese visitors in 2025, up around 41 percent year-on-year, making China the country’s largest source market.
For Corona, the new premium mass push appears aimed at capturing that demand, as regional casinos compete for higher-quality players in an increasingly regulated landscape.
