Côte d’Ivoire’s LONACI posts 40% surge in contributions
Côte d’Ivoire’s National Lottery (LONACI) reinforced its fiscal relevance in 2025 with a notable bump in state contributions. The lottery increased payments to public coffers by 40%, totalling CFA21bn ($37.2m), reinforcing its role in national development.
This performance demonstrates the role gaming can play in the development of a nation and the contribution it makes to the government through taxation and the funding of various government development initiatives and activities. This also shows the growth and development of the gaming industry in Côte d’Ivoire and the number of patrons who are loyal to the gaming industry in the nation.
At the same time, the gaming industry witnessed increased activity from players through both land-based and online gaming platforms in the nation.
Better returns for players
In addition to the increased funds transferred to the government, the National Lottery also distributed a large amount of funds to players in the year under review. In 2025, the National Lottery also distributed CFA413.9bn ($732m) to players, a 17% increase over the amount distributed in 2024. This demonstrates the increased activity and loyalty of players to the gaming industry in the nation and the growth and development of the gaming industry in the nation.
Results presented to leadership
The results were presented in an internal meeting held to mark the start of a new year. The Director General, Dramane Coulibaly, presented the results during the traditional New Year staff ceremony held on 2 February 2025, at the Bietry Studios in the presence of the Board of Directors and the staff of LONACI.
The senior leadership seized the opportunity to assess progress while reinforcing the lottery’s wider contribution to the public purse. Management emphasised that commercial development remains closely correlated to responsibility. LONACI said, “There was nearly FCFA414bn donated to players in 2025, with contributions to the State rising to FCFA21bn, reflecting strong growth in both player engagement and our support for national revenues.”
Revenue generation and responsible gambling
In addition to the disbursement of funds to players, LONACI plays a vital role in the gambling industry of Côte d’Ivoire through a structured oversight mechanism. It operates a range of lottery and betting services throughout the country, providing safe gaming services to a broad customer base while encouraging responsible gaming practices among players.
