Sands China Limited reported higher fourth-quarter revenues and earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) compared with the same period a year earlier, according to a results announcement filed with the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) on 28 January.

The Macau-focused casino operator reported consolidated net revenues of US$2.05 billion for the three months ended 31 December, representing an increase of 16.4 percent year-on-year. Net income for the quarter was $213 million, compared with $237 million in the fourth quarter of the prior year.

Adjusted property EBITDA for the quarter totalled $608 million, up from $571 million in the corresponding period of 2024, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 6.5 percent. Sands China’s full-year adjusted property EBITDA for 2025 was reported at $2.31 billion, compared with $2.33 billion in 2024, while full-year revenues reached $7.44 billion.

Earnings disclosure and regulatory context

The results were released alongside Las Vegas Sands Corp’s group-level fourth-quarter earnings and discussed during an earnings call held on the same day. Sands China is the majority-owned Macau operating subsidiary of Las Vegas Sands and holds casino concessions in the city under Macau’s gaming regulatory framework.

Sands China operates five integrated resort properties in Macau, including The Venetian Macau, The Parisian Macau, The Londoner Macau, Sands Macau and The Plaza Macau. Casino gaming in the jurisdiction is regulated by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), with concessionaires operating under licences that were re-tendered and renewed in 2022 for a 10-year term.

Concessionaires are obliged to disclose financial information and material information through recognised disclosure channels, such as HKEX, where Sands China is listed. The fourth-quarter filing is in line with the company’s filing schedule and the schedule of Las Vegas Sands Corp’s market disclosure in the United States.

Executive commentary and group structure

During the earnings call, senior executives referenced the quarterly financial performance and operating conditions in Macau. Patrick Dumont, president and chief operating officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp, and Grant Chum, president and chief executive officer of Sands China, both spoke during the call, alongside Rob Goldstein, who was serving as chairman and chief executive officer of Las Vegas Sands at the time.

As per the earnings release, the adjusted property EBITDA numbers of Sands China take into account its performance at its Macau casino operations, after making adjustments for operating expenses and other defined adjustments. The company’s results also included full-year figures, which showed a slight year-on-year decline in adjusted property EBITDA despite higher full-year revenues. The filing did not provide commentary attributing this change to specific operational or market factors.

Sands China’s financial disclosures form part of a broader reporting cycle for Macau concessionaires, which are required to comply with local gaming regulations and public disclosure standards. The Macau gaming market remains subject to regulatory oversight by the DICJ, including supervision of concession terms, gaming operations and compliance with local laws.

Leadership transition confirmed

In addition to financial data, the earnings materials confirmed a leadership transition at Las Vegas Sands Corp. Goldstein is due to retire, with Dumont taking over as chairman and chief executive officer of the group. This information was contained in the official earnings announcement, with no further information given on what the transition process will entail.

Las Vegas Sands Corp does not engage in casino gaming in the United States after the sale of its Las Vegas assets, with its main business operations in Macau and Singapore. Sands China is the main exposure of the group to the Macau gaming market, which is one of the largest gaming markets in the world by gross gaming revenue.
