Sands China has made a series of major leadership changes as it strengthens its marketing, customer service and operations teams in Macau. The company has appointed experienced casino executive Raymond Voon as senior vice president of marketing strategy and loyalty, while also confirming senior departures and announcing several new promotions across the group.
Recently, the company’s long-serving executive Virginia Lam left the firm after more than 15 years. Lam stepped down from her roles as executive vice president and chief customer officer at Sands China. She also served on the firm’s executive committee and was recognised for her work on customer-focused initiatives.
Voon takes charge
According to GGRAsia, Raymond Voon will oversee the marketing and loyalty functions within Sands China’s market development division. Voon joins the company with 28 years of experience in strategic planning, casino marketing, customer service and loyalty programmes.
He previously served as corporate senior vice president of customer services at Galaxy Entertainment Group. The memo, issued by Sands China chief executive and president Grant Chum, emphasised Voon’s long track record across key operational and customer-facing roles in the Macau gaming sector. Voon will report directly to Chum.
Leadership changes following departure of senior executive
Voon’s appointment follows the departure of long-serving executive vice president and chief customer officer Virginia Lam. Lam is leaving Sands China after more than 15 years with the company.
In the memo, Chum confirmed that Lam was stepping down to pursue other interests and opportunities. He acknowledged her contribution to the launch of several Sands China properties and her role in building a strong market development team.
With her exit, Philip Lam and Kitty Chui will now jointly oversee sales and service functions across market development and premium mass services. Both executives will report directly to the chief executive.
More senior movements across operations division
The memo also stated that Sean McCreery, executive vice president for operations, will be departing after ten years with Sands China and its parent company Las Vegas Sands. McCreery joined the group in 2013 and has held several leadership roles across the operations segment.
Cetin Tanisman will continue to lead casino operations in his current role. In addition, Sands China has appointed John Burger as senior vice president of resort operations. Burger brings more than 40 years of hospitality experience and currently serves as vice president operations China south at Hilton. He will take responsibility for hotel operations, customer experience design and innovation, meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions functions and transportation.
Promotions strengthen market development
Sands China also announced several internal promotions aimed at supporting expansion and strengthening its business development unit. Wing Ao has been promoted to senior vice president of market development for Asia and non Asia. Eddie Lou has been promoted to senior vice president of market development for The Parisian Macao and The Londoner Grand.
In other changes, Luisa Lei has been appointed senior vice president of business development and Thomas Pang will serve as senior vice president of international marketing.
In the first quarter of 2025, the company reported total net revenues of $1.70 billion and net income of $202 million. The company operates five integrated resorts in Macau, The Londoner Macao, The Parisian Macao, The Venetian Macao, The Plaza Macao, and Sands Macao, which continue to drive revenue as Macau’s gaming and tourism sectors grow.
