Rome has long been a city where history is written and in 2025, it added another chapter, this time focused on innovation, technology and Europe’s digital economy. SiGMA Central Europe 2025 transformed the Italian capital into a global meeting point for gaming, AI, fintech and blockchain, placing SiGMA firmly at the centre of Europe’s innovation conversation.

With more than 30,000 delegates from over 150 countries, 1,700 exhibitors and 550 speakers, the summit was a statement of intent. As SiGMA News reporter Antonino Colapinto framed it, Rome became “the place where the future is built and signed.”

Open for innovation

Institutional voices underlined Italy’s growing leadership role in digital regulation and innovation. At a European level, Hon. Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, highlighted the wider significance of the industry, “When we look at the iGaming industry in Europe, we see something bigger than numbers or growth charts… evidence that we can be business-friendly, forward-thinking and open to innovation while doing things responsibly.”

Hon. Federico Freni, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Economy & Finance, was clear on the balance Italy is striving to achieve, “For us, the protection of the player is non-negotiable… alongside this, there is an equally non-negotiable respect for those who do business.” He added that forward-looking regulation is key to progress, noting that a modern country must create rules “suited to the times to come, not to the times that have passed.”

Economic growth and creative energy

The Italian impact extended far further than policy. Local suppliers and partners experienced first-hand the scale of opportunity generated by SiGMA’s presence in Rome. Francesca Belloni, Logistics Coordinator at Snapshot Event, described the experience as “a completely new reality,” adding, “Entering SiGMA had a big economic impact at the company level and moved a lot of work, many young people, for this event.”

That sentiment was echoed by Francesco Corini, Commercial Manager at Arredo & Stand Design S.r.l., “We already have reconstructions confirmed for next year, again here in Rome, and we aim to make even more stands.”

Attendees agreed. From first-time visitors to seasoned exhibitors, the scale, energy and networking opportunities made a lasting impression. As one participant put it, “everyone waits for SiGMA, it’s where you reconnect, build new partnerships, and move business forward.”

A lasting legacy

The momentum doesn’t stop in Rome. Following the success and growing Italian impact of SiGMA Central Europe 2025, the event evolves in 2026 into SiGMA World, a landmark edition that reflects the industry’s expanding global influence. Designed to unite markets, technologies and decision-makers at an even greater scale, SiGMA World 2026 will spotlight the conversations shaping regulation, innovation and sustainable growth worldwide. As Italy continues to play a central role in Europe’s digital future, SiGMA World 2026 signals a new chapter, one where global ambition meets European leadership.
