Indonesia’s online gambling activity has seen sharp changes in user activity in recent months during continued enforcement, recent data shows.
Data from Blask, a market intelligence platform that tracks user interest and estimated revenue across gambling brands, shows that Indonesia’s Blask Index stood at 8.89 million in August 2025 before falling to 6.11 million in September 2025. The figure was 6.29 million in October 2025, before increasing to 8.85 million by March 2026.
The Blask Index represents aggregated user intent based on search activity and engagement signals across gambling brands. Over this period, the data shows a sequence of decline followed by an increase in measured user activity.
Crackdowns intensify across payments and content
The fall in activity between August and October 2025 took place during a period of intensified enforcement targeting financial channels and digital content.
Blocking bank and e-wallet accounts and removing gambling-related content from major platforms were among the actions taken in August and September. These behaviours also resulted in decreased access to payment systems and decreased visibility across digital media. While account limitations restricted payments and withdrawals, content takedowns impacted discovery on social media platforms. During this time, there were also platform-level interruptions, such as brief limitations on services like TikTok Live.
Indonesia has also carried out broader enforcement actions in recent years, including the removal of more than 2.4 million gambling websites and related content. Payment systems have been the subject of financial enforcement. In January 2026, Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK) said that banks had been instructed to block over 30,000 accounts linked to online gambling following earlier measures to monitor transactions.
Activity increases alongside events and seasonal factors
Major sporting events and seasonal changes in online activity coincided with the start of an increase in activity in October 2025. Activity rose starting in November 2025 and continued until early 2026, when it reached 8.85 million in March.
During this period, events including MotoGP Mandalika in October, the SEA Games in December, the Indonesia Masters in January, and UEFA Champions League fixtures took place. Increased online activity was also recorded during the Christmas and New Year period.
Enforcement measures continued during this phase, including account blocks and action against gambling sites, which coincided with ongoing constraints on payment channels. Other developments during this period were the beginning of Ramadan in February 2026, which corresponded with moderate activity towards the conclusion of the period, and communication problems in some areas of Sumatra in December 2025.
Revenue shows lower variation than user activity
User activity showed variation, while estimated market revenue remained within a narrower range. Blask Market Dynamics data places revenue at $384.4 million in August 2025, declining to $327.7 million in September and $324.5 million in October.
In the following months, revenue recorded $337.4 million in November, $333.6 million in December, $333.9 million in January 2026, and $337.3 million in February, before increasing to $359 million in March 2026. The data indicates that variation in user activity was greater than in estimated revenue over the same period.
Data reflects decline followed by increase
Across the observed period, the data shows that activity declined during a phase of intensified enforcement and increased in subsequent months.
Indonesia maintains a legal framework in which gambling activity is prohibited. The Blask data indicates continued changes in user activity over time, with measured interest declining and later increasing between August 2025 and March 2026.
